What should I do if I believe my ESO account has been hacked?

If you believe your ESO account has been compromised, please complete the following steps:

First, scan your computer for viruses to ensure that your system is free of malware such as keyloggers or Trojans. You can visit the Microsoft support website for some advice on how to scan your system for harmful software here.

Once your system is clean, we advise you to change the passwords of every web service you use. This is especially important for your e-mail account, as you are not able to gain access to another player's ESO account without also obtaining the password for the e-mail address associated with that account.

For every service you are using on the internet, you should set up a unique password.

If you are unable to log into the game, please contact Customer Support. If you can't log into your ESO account on the help portal, please use this Account Recovery form and select Suspended/Compromised to submit a ticket.

To expedite the account recovery process, provide the following information when contacting support:

  1. Payment method (please choose one):
    • Last 4 digits of the Credit Card number used to make a purchase from the ESO website
    • A PayPal Invoice ID Number used to make a purchase from the ESO website
    • Complete Game Code used to activate the game
  2. The answer to your secret question. If you can't remember your secret question, you can have it displayed by performing these steps:
    1. Navigate to https://account.elderscrollsonline.com.
    2. Click on "Forgot password?"
    3. Fill out first name, last name, and e-mail address.
    4. Click on Continue.
    5. The security question appears on next page.

As always, The Elder Scrolls Online Customer Support will never ask you for your password.
