We have resolved an issue that was blocking players from accessing the game in a hotfix on April 3, 2024.

Sometimes you will experience a long wait time after logging into your account before the character selection appears.

This may occur as a result of several possibilities:
  • It's your first time logging into the game on your machine
  • The first time you log in after installing a new patch to the game
  • You makes changes to the video performance settings.

Because the application is applying changes to your machine in order to run the game this may take upwards of 10 minutes. If the loading screen is displayed with the spinning ESO logo in the bottom-right corner, the best solution is to not close the program, but wait for the character selection screen to appear. This long load time should take place only after logging in for the first time, after applying a patch, or after changing video performance settings.

If the above does not work, check for any network or service outages:

  1. See if there are any known problems with Xbox Live's online service: http://support.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-live-status.
  2. Check all the physical devices on the network to ensure they are plugged in and powered on.
  3. Perform a connection test on each device connected to the network.
Connection and Network Troubleshooting
If there are no indicated issues, verify your network and perform a connection test on the console:
  1. Press the Menu button on the controller.
  2. Select Settings.
  3. Select Network.
    1. In the second column titled Current Network Stats, check the NAT status and confirm whether it is reading that the console is running on wireless or Ethernet correctly. The NAT should show as Open.
    2. For troubleshooting a disconnect in your connection select Troubleshooting and then Test Network Connection.
    3. The NAT types can be one of the following:
      1. OPEN: Can play games with any other NAT type.
      2. MODERATE: Can play games with open or moderate NAT types.
      3. STRICT: Can only play against open NAT types.

We also recommend you ensure that the ports needed for the game and Xbox Live are open. The ports for our game and Xbox Live are as follows:

  • UDP Port 88
  • UDP Ports 12000 through 32000
  • UDP Port 6250
  • UDP Port 5060
  • UDP Port 5062
  • UDP Port 3478 through 3479
  • UDP and TCP Port 3074
  • UDP and TCP Port 53
  • TCP Port 80
  • TCP Port 433
Finally, you can attempt to clear your Mac Address:
  1. Press Start at the main Xbox menu.
  2. Navigate to Settings.
  3. Select Network Settings, Advanced Settings, Alternative Mac Address, and finally Clear.
  4. Restart and shut down the Xbox. Disconnect the power cord from the back of the console and wait two minutes.
  5. Once the two minutes have passed, plug the power back in and wait for the power bricks light to go from white to orange.
  6. When the light switches to orange, reboot the console and try the game again.

If the above solutions do not resolve the issue, we recommend you contact Xbox Support: http://support.xbox.com/en-US/contact-us.
